I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.

The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.

Anybody purporting to care about protecting women might start there.

Lord Dannatt urged ministers to crack down on Palestine Action at request of US firm Police officer was concerned ex-army chief, a Teledyne adviser, sought to have โ€˜inputโ€™ into factory attack investigation

Another deeply concerning allegation, the latest in a long line of apparent commercial and political lobbying against protest movements, some of which has led to the extremely repressive legislation we now face.
Powerful lobbyists are the bane of democracy.

Another 5.8mm of rain yesterday brought the 48hr total here to: 11.8mm
Interesting the rainfall event was a convergence line with much less either side.
Heathrow: 13.6mm
Holland Park: 36.2mm
And looked at nationwide the event was a spine, south to north.

It shows up well in this plot. We had 35mm yesterday morning. Up 40mm/hr rain rate briefly.

What appears to be a supercell storm about to hit Aberdeenshire bring torrential rain and possibly hail. #aberdeen #thunderstorms

What was bizarre was sitting in the garden in South London at 09:00 and it was 30ยบC. A very dry heat though and quite unlike the humid conditions yesterday. It couldn't be more different in London this morning with 31mm of rain fallen since 06:30.

Underwhelmed by the rain so far in London. Probably for the best as 70mm would have been damaging.
So far 7mm in the last 90 minutes and maybe another two hours of around 5mm/hr rate so if we get 20mm in SW16 I will be happy with that.

It's one of the reasons we moved to the top of Streatham Hill. Lower parts of South London, especially near Putney, seem to flood really easily. While I hope for some rain, I don't want 100mm for sure. That would be more than we've had locally in the last five months. ๐Ÿ‘€

Yes definitely a bias with only a few (sometimes just 1 or 2!) sites available at the very start of the record. Which is why when the MO qupte temperature comparisons its usually only back to 1930 (or 1960?) or something like that. But I chose to show everything and let the user decide.

Thanks! Maybe @roostweather.bsky.social can add an opinion on this, as I guess this must be a question that crops up when looking at a temperature threshold exceeded at any station.

Isn't there a potential bias here for the increased number of SYNOP stations over time and is it possible to restrict the plot to those that were in existence at the beginning of the observational period?

I hope they offer the euphorbia plants to residents. Theyโ€™ve been rather spectacular in the central reservation.

We've moved from 'don't say gay' to 'ban trans'. But this time, it's the policy of a 'Labour' Government.

Depends if you're talking about water reserves. London doesn't solely rely on reservoir water, and a lot of it is borehole supply. The water table was very high at the beginning of Spring, so we're a bit more protected than NW England.

Hitting 21-22ยบC in Lerwick, Shetland Isles, thanks to some very warm air aloft pushing in from Scandinavia. Graphic H/T WXcharts.com
