My four favorite first watches of November

Should be noted that Spider-Man pretty definitively Got Bad Forever right as they started emphasizing how important it is that he's a Spider. "Ohhh what if he was actually the totem of a spider-god and there was a cosmic web that gave him his powers and there was also an evil wasp god..." SHUT UP!!!

Spider-Man is just a superhero with the powers of a spider, he doesn't need to be fighting "Raid Spray-Man" or whatever, that's lame! Batman doesn't (exclusively) fight bugs and owls!

Stepping away from the Kirby/Ditko fumble: this is a funny tweet but it also IMO exemplifies a big problem in a lot of modern superhero storytelling and fandom, which is the insistence on everything having a "theme"

It's very useful for me because she doesn't have any interest in scifi and can't stand horror so it forces me to step outside my usual film comfort zone. Even if I was sure they would be good, I likely still wouldn't have watched Malcolm X or Burn After Reading or The Conversation alone yet.

For a little over year now I've been doing (roughly) monthly movie nights with my grandmother. We just hit a nice round number of 16 watched and I think this is a pretty good collection :)

I don't think Trump actually blew Clinton (that email reads to me as an inside joke between friends, and even if it's about a real event "Bubba" could be anyone) but it's been incredible watching that idea spread across the internet become basically Canon in people's minds

I'm almost tempted to say I enjoyed The Room more than I did Predator Badlands but I'll be honest that is more heat than Predator deserves

The lion doesn't really have a perspective on what it used to be like and doesn't have a great understanding on the language or culture so he just kinda goes with the flow
