The Annotated Snark

Several great blue herons lined up along the edge of a large industrial dock. The heron closest to the viewer is in crisp focus, and the herons behind it get progressively blurrier. Most of them are facing in the same direction as the bird in front, looking out across the dock, which has a few large pipes running along its length. Taken at Ballard Locks.

A photo from today's walk. I sometimes get my ducks in a row, but this is the first time I've managed to get my herons in a row.

Great beams!

A small white bird with a gray and black back runs quickly over the wet sand where an ocean wave retreats. Its back left foot has tiny bits of water connected to it as it pulls it forward. A bright thin beam of reflected light highlights its lower body. The reflections in the water beneath it alternate between thick bands of pale blue and thin bands of white.

Really like the way the beams of reflected light land on this running sanderling 🐤☀️
