Hah, yes! The first time I tried to work from home I was told they’d be fine with *me* doing it but couldn’t trust other people, and therefore it couldn’t be allowed.

It has! There’s been a lot going on, but I’m doing ok here.

I think it’s probably more difficult for any public org to pull off simply because of perception that “my taxes pay your salary and now you want to do less work??”
With no deeper analysis than that, unfortunately. It’s not like the people complaining are reading arguments, just accepting the spin.

This sucked but was unsurprising to me. It’s a combination of bosses elsewhere not being willing to allow it *anywhere* in case their own workers demand it, and people caring more about stopping other people from getting ahead because they don’t get any (immediate) benefit themselves.

Hah, completely fair. Once I realised I couldn’t get any of my usual handles I toyed with the idea of maybe not using my real name anymore. But I got over it 😅
