I think it’s probably more difficult for any public org to pull off simply because of perception that β€œmy taxes pay your salary and now you want to do less work??”

This sucked but was unsurprising to me. It’s a combination of bosses elsewhere not being willing to allow it *anywhere* in case their own workers demand it, and people caring more about stopping other people from getting ahead because they don’t get any (immediate) benefit themselves.
