You gotta wonder - do journalists at the Guardian talk to each other? First they run a story about Bacon being carcinogenic and the need for health warnings (a long standing food scandal that one) - then, barely a day later, a puff piece on which baconΒ βcrisps upβ the bestβ¦..Jeez.

Tories pledge to scrap landmark climate legislation
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch says her party would axe legally binding targets to cut emissions.
Jane Goodall dies, the Pope condemns climate deniers, and Kemi Badenoch decides today is a good day to say sheβd scrap the Climate Change Act.

Al Overview
+1
No, Dunkin' Cereal Milk is not gluten-free because it contains milk, which is a common allergen, and as a result, it is not suitable for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
However, coffee drinks, dairy milk, and non-dairy milks like oat, almond, and coconut milk are naturally gluten-free at Dunkin'.

Screenshot of a tweet by J.K. Rowling replying to Mark Adam Harold. Mark's tweet asks, "How are you planning to police public toilets?" J.K. Rowling responds: "Quite easily, really. Decent men will stay out, as they always have, so we can assume all who don't are a threat, given their disregard for women's and girls' safety, privacy and dignity. Photographing, reporting and disseminating such men's images online will be a piece of cake." JK Rowling explicitly calls on her followers to engage in vigilante actions against people they suspect are trans in bathrooms.
This is incredibly dangerous and far more likely to result in violence against gender nonconforming cis women.

Jaws at 50: Was the Terrifying Movie Really to Blame for Worldwide Shark Declines? β’ The Revelator
Sharks have experienced the worst declines in history. Can we trace that decline to their villainous portrayal in this influential movie?
Steven Spielbergβs iconic film Jaws first hit theaters 50 years ago this month.
Since then, sharks have experienced the worst declines in their 450-million-year history. Can we trace that decline to their villainous portrayal in this influential movie?

7 Conclusion
We surveyed 319 knowledge workers who use GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) at work at least once per week, to model how they enact critical thinking when using GenAI tools, and how GenAI affects their perceived effort of thinking critically. Analysing 936 real-world GenAI tool use examples our participants shared, we find that knowledge workers engage in critical thinking primarily to ensure the quality of their work, e.g. by verifying outputs against external sources. Moreover, while GenAl can improve worker effi-ciency, it can inhibit critical engagement with work and can potentially lead to long-term overreliance on the tool and diminished skill for independent problem-solving. Higher confidence in GenAI's ability to perform a task is related to less critical thinking effort.
When using GenAl tools, the effort invested in critical thinking shifts from information gathering to information verification; from problem-solving to Al response integration; and from task execution to task stewardship. Knowledge workers face new challenges in critical thinking as they incorporate GenAl into their knowledge workflows. To that end, our work suggests that GenAl tools need to be designed to support knowledge workers' critical thinking by addressing their awareness, motivation, and ability barriers.

Microsoft acknowledge that ChatGPT and other generative #AI is likely to make people less able use critical skills, and more reliant on trusting whatever they are served up by GenAI www.microsoft.com/en-us/resear...
