There was also the finalized settlement that lifted the last of the injunction on detained population mid-June, right?

Awful timing. 🫀

Interval ADP and Reported ADP for Adelanto ICE Processing Center
As of July 21, 2025, ICE reported an annualized average of 351 detainees at the facility.
Using an interval average, the number detained on that date was likely closer to 1,664.

ICE's annualized average tells us that "only" 351 people are held at Adelanto ICE Processing Center.

With the help of some math, we can determine that ICE actually detains around *1,664* people at Adelanto.

A difference of more than 1,300 people. Largest discrepancy since at least Oct. 1, 2023.

First images of ICE migrant detention facility at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas The El Paso Times has obtained the first aerial images of the Trump administration's new immigrant detention facility at Fort Bliss.

Here are the first areal photos of Trump's immigration detention facility at Fort Bliss, El Paso. The first detainees started arriving on Friday.

Here is my quick rundown of what we know about the site.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement uses over 175 facilities across the states and territories of the US to detain people who ICE believes are eligible for removal.

Starting today, I am going to start posting some summary information from DetentionReports.com for two facilities each day.

the Court fails to do so by suggesting the Attorney General unreasonably relied on section
1182(d)(5)(A). Not so. That statute provides that parole is not β€œan admission of the alien and
when the purposes of such parole shall ... have been served the alien shall forthwith return ... to
the custody from which he was paroled and thereafter his case shall continue to be dealt with in
the same manner as that of any other applicant for admission to the United States.” Thus, Congress
made clear that parole is simply a temporary release of an alien into the United States that confers
no immigration status, and that once parole expires or is revoked, the alien shall be detained and
treated as any other applicant for admission. In a nutshell, an alien paroled at a port of entry stands
in the same legal position as one stopped at the border and should be treated as such for purposes
of expedited removal.

DOJ's Office of Immigration Litigation appears to have left a note in that undermines the argument they are being made to advance in this filing. In the section of the filing, "The Court’s objections to the Government’s interpretation of β€œarriving” are not persuasive.
The Court’s observation that none of the pre-expedited removal cases cited in Defendants’ brief
use the term β€œarriving” is beside the point. See op. at 60. The critical point is that these specific
principles concerning parole and paroled arriving aliens were well-established at the time of the
enactment of the expedited removal statute through the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant
Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA) and should weigh heavily when interpreting the term
β€œarriving.” Although a paroled arriving alien may have β€œarrived” at a port of entry in terms of a
historical event, see op. at 61, that does not mean he is not an β€œarriving alien” for purposes of the
β€œarriving in” authority; he is positionally an arriving alien and Congress legislated with the
awareness of that principle.
3"
the embedded note at 3 in yellow reads,
"Civil/OIL
Flagging for DHS to make sure it agrees. Also, how do we interpret 8 CFR 212.5(e)(2)(i), which states in part: "parole shall be terminated upon written notice to the alien and he or she shall be restored to the status that he or she had at the time of parole."
If parole does not change an arriving alien's status why would they need to be "restored to the status that [they] had at the time of parole"?"

An alarming share of ICE arrests rely on collaborations with local law enforcement.

Since January, 45% of all ICE arrests were transfers from local jails:

Honestly don't know enough about FDEM's org to guess if it's a matter of not having any unit that could enter a 287(g) (but hell, the state lotto has one) but still needing to use their emergency powers.

Or if they just assumed w/o checking that FDEM had one because everyone else in the state does.

On its face, I'm not sure how much I'd expect it to hamper things in Miami; there are plenty of never-paroled EWIs with entries '21-'23 every day, and that has seemed to be the bulk of the targets here?

OTOH, it stays 1/23 & 2/18 memos entirely, and those were load-bearing planks in the scheme...?

Anyway, dunno how it played out elsewhere, or if it was just coincidence, but the day started off as a two-van day at court, people were taken during the morning docket, then this decision dropped, and the afternoon the room I was in began w/ a comment that the vans had left, folks could relax, etc.
