this is all just stock thief 2 textures, by the way. i am not at all good at curating new texture palettes—but when some decent palettes are available to me, i really enjoy the process of discovering different ways to use them to decorate a level.

A long hallway of stone bricks, with a blue marble floor. Gaslamps sit in small alcoves along the hallway, illuminating it. Down the middle of the hall run four mahogany pillars in a line, with long planters between them. A shallow arch runs along the middle of the ceiling, with a skylight above each planter, although dim because it is not daylight. Two small L-shaped rugs line the corners at this end of the hall. A guard, armed with a sword, passes by on patrol.

i really enjoyed the physical aspect of ringing though: handling this big mass by just gentle working of the rope; feeling what the bell was doing through the rope; and learning the knack of getting your bell to ring at just the right time, since you have to put power into the rope well in advance.

like, the idea is youre supposed to listen out for where the treble (highest pitched) bell is and use that as a guide. and ideally you have an idea what bells are ringing just before you throughout the pattern. but i never got that to click.
