ITV Cycling's "Reflections"

Cycling. Bloody hell.

Wasn't expecting Gary to choke up, nor me to join him.

Farewell and chapeau ITV Cycling. You were quietly the best of broadcast sport in this nation. Maybe sense will see out and you'll return one day soon.

I'm absolutely sure people will go down a pedestrianised Oxford st on bikes from the get go. Just the deliveroo people for starters whizzing by. I'd expect there to be those council warden people out in force. What I can't see is a natural alternative. I used to go N of the BBC but it's circuitous.

If going east -west or west - east in London. I more often than not use the embankment cycleway. Then use Hyde park. All segregated and pleasant views. I realise it's worse journey times. You can't expect TfL to publish the plan when it's only just consulted on enacting this change.

There are better ways to get through the middle of town by bike. Cycling down Oxford street now is not a pleasant experience.

The gaping hole in London's cycling provision that is Kensington. Rest of the city is pretty good now. And the build it, they will come principle is really bearing fruit. It's not all MAMILs now.

My work commute for the last two years started in Acton, went through chiswick and did that very route. Glorious apart from high street Ken. :(

WORLD-FIRST: Ground-breaking research published today in the Ornithologist Journal has, for the first time, translated common UK bird vocalisations into equivalent phrases in the human language.

The results tell us a lot!

London Cyclists: do yourself a favour and cycle round the Embankment bike lane from Parliament to Blackfriars in the spring sunshine. The city looks wonderful.

Ok so…
There’s a nice little park on a corner, and a path running directly to one edge of the park. That’s the first image, but there’s 12 other images here. In the second image, there is now a desire path running diagonally across the park. Next image, the path has been blocked by a park bench that the council has put in as a deterrent. Unfazed, in image 4 the path now deftly avoids the park bench. In images 5 and 6 the process is repeated, this time with a strategically placed bin which the desire path also avoids. Presumably in a fit of rage, the council plants an entire hedge to stop people creating new desire paths but eventually this too is defeated and a new path find a way. Finally, the council admits defeat and turns the desire path into a proper paved pathway. After a little while, a new desire path curving off this new paved pathway begins to emerge…

A little comic about desire paths.

Do you think the Emirates still suffers from moving from Highbury? Breaking up banks of supporters who sat together. More corporate prawn sandwiches.

Yes, depends on the throughput and who's in charge. The railway porter was good recently. I normally have a taster to see if it's in decent nick.
