Das Foto zeigt das Denkmal zu Ehren von Carl von Ossietzky in der Blücherstraße 46 / 47 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Der Pazifist sitzt an einem Denkmalsockel, der einem Schreibtisch gleicht. Der Autor schaut, während er schreibt und auf den Sockel gestützt ist, von seiner Arbeit auf und blickt aufmerksam in Richtung der Betrachterin bzw. des Betrachters vor dem Denkmal. Der Sockel ist zudem mit dem Abbild eines Briefes verziert, der vor dem Autor liegt. Die Mauer hinter dem Denkmal ist auf der rechten Seite von einer gleichsam sichelförmigen, tiefen Spalte zerfurcht, die sich beinahe bis zum Erdboden zieht.

Carl von Ossietzky hatte zu den bedeutendsten Publizisten und Pazifisten in der Weimarer Republik gehört, verstarb nach Verfolgung und Misshandlung unter dem NS-Regime im Jahr 1938 auf einem polizeilich bewachten Krankenhausbett als gebrochener Mann.

Ganz so wie Goebbels sich einmal von marschierender HJ mit Entzücken äußerte: Es sei überall dasselbe Gesicht.
