Keep the one way trial on Kingβs road
The "Friends of Kingston Gate" say that the ongoing trial of one-way working 2 way for bikes on Kings), on upper Kings Road and New Road (near #RichmondPark Kingston Gate) is at risk of being halted by the Council. They have a petition here www.change.org/p/keep-the-o...

Have you ever seen a bike lane sweeper - pulled behind a bike?
Volunteers in Kirkland have a new tool that attaches to the back of an e-bike. It's good for protected bike lanes, sidewalks, and narrow trails.

A red triangle warning sign depicting a cycle skidding with a sign beneath "CYCLISTS CAUTION Roundabout may be slippery" and a blue roundabout sign above.
Lots of new signs in #RichmondPark. Not seen this design for "slippery cyclists" anywhere before.

'Tis the season where we struggle to get Kingston Council to sweep up leaves on pavements and cycle leaves ππ. When we reported these leaves in the cycle lane the case was closed with the comment "Unable to remove or clear" π

New (replacement) bike stands outside KFC, Clarence Street.
New bike stands outside "The Rex", with the Kingston bike hub (400+ spaces) in the background.
We've spotted more bike parking stand installations. Locations: Clarence Street outside the KFC and the new apartment block "The Rex", and on Kings Road.

Blue plastic barriers block the Skerne Road cycle route under the railway bridge.
Seems that what is possibly the busiest cycle route in the borough was closed without warning or consideration of cyclists. #SkerneRoad

The obvious thing is to remove the planter box, which obscures the views between drivers. It's not needed. There is a No Entry sign on a post. Also, drivers on Park Road need to drive within the speed limit.

A view of Kings Road signed as one-way but with contra-flow cycling permitted.
We've been told that there's a lot of opposition to the trial measures in Kings Road, Tudor Road and Crescent Road. Probably the most anger has been at the Crescent Road change. Kings Rd and Tudor Rd are not permanent changes - still only trials. Survey: www.kingstonletstalk.co.uk/highways-and...

The new LCC map of 'Dangerous Junctions (for cyclists) in London highlights the risks in north Kingston. Most dangerous junction is assessed to be Kings Road with Park Road (mini roundabout), 3rd is London Rd juntion with Birkenhead Ave (opposite ASDA), and #4 Queen's Road/ Crescent Road.

We can take this matter up with the council. It is confusing. Possibly, the designer expected that people on bikes would take the route we marked in red and just hoped there wouldn't be conflict.

Hi, the crossings for cyclists going east to West are shown here in green. The red line is what cyclists should not be doing as they would be going through a (Toucan) crossing being used by pedestrians and potentially cyclists. The layout is confusing and lacking in markings and signs.
