It’s worth anyone watching or rewatching Iannucci’s Death of Stalin. Some of the most striking early bits in the movie are about Stalin’s cadre worrying if he liked them, hoping he thought their jokes were funny. (The movie isn’t difficult homework. It’s a comedy, a dark one.)

In all seriousness, the Trump administration will reduce or eliminate useful services, like health care or lots of other things that people do take for granted, and accelerate their fascistic efforts, like their own grifting and I.C.E. brutalities. Fascist governments are smaller, not larger, oddly.
