Time for Sky to get its head out of the clouds Pressure mounts on Ofcom and Sky to take action to end GB News’ campaign of hate.

I covered this in my Campaign column back in March. And in this column I drew attention to the sanctioning powers we have as advertisers. My message on this remains the same.

My comment continued: "Advertisers can choose to distance themselves from such hateful rhetoric by pulling advertising. And Sky Media can choose to stop spending their time hawking ad inventory on the channel’s behalf."

My comment to Beau Jackson at Campaign on hearing this news:

"I’m glad that Ofcom found a breach, but I am disappointed to see them not use their sanctioning powers this time. But let’s remind ourselves that our [advertising] industry has sanctioning powers, too."

Also worth remembering that a GBNews spokesman responded to my column in March denying that they broke Ofcom rules.

Seems Ofcom disagreed with them on that.

Mercari and similar sites like Rakuten have also forbidden the sale of other items that were deemed public interest goods. The most recent example was a ban on reselling rice released from Japan’s strategic reserves.
