Student workers hold sit-in at Johnson Hall for fair contract, UO invites EPD to disperse them UO Student Workers reached one week of striking as of Monday, and they are still fighting for fair pay, and independent arbitration, among other issues. To increase the pressure on the administration the union held several actions including a sit in at Johnson Hall in the afternoon. Around 50 student workers independently decided to stay in the administration building after it closed to gurantee a fair contract while mediation was still ongoing. Ultimately the university invited the Eugene Police to clear them out. At 1 PM today student workers started their study-in at Johnson Hall to demand what they call enforceable anti-harrasment protections, through access to a third party arbitrator.

These two people could be credited for Springfield’s revival Look back at how downtown Springfield grew into a destination location, and specifically, the people who helped make it happen.

#EugeneOR #SpringfieldOR "grassroots" news outlet Lookout Eugene-Springfield published a full-on fluff piece for Lane County Commissioner David Loveall. It completely obfuscates any mention of Loveall's documented role in the local far-right.

Instead, they claim he will "revive" Springfield.

CAHOOTS workers exploring separating program from White Bird Clinic Less than a week after the layoff of over twenty workers and the end of 35 years of CAHOOTS service in Eugene, panelists at a UO town hall said the crisis response team was exploring a separation from White Bird Clinic. Thursday April 10, a town hall hosted by the UO Department of Sociology pivoted from a research and community impact discussion to a forum of community frustration and ire over the program's collapse. CAHOOTS workers made a call to action for the people of Eugene to show up for each other while the team is unable to respond in the community.

After the closure of CAHOOTS in Eugene, workers suggest moving program out of White Bird may be the way to revive it.

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors says City’s actions against it are unconstitutional Neighbors Feeding Neighbors (NFN), a faith-based, no-barrier feeding program, has been serving meals at Washington Jefferson Park for the last 11 years. The organization says extreme raises in permit costs by the City of Eugene and harassment of their volunteers by the Eugene Police Department, has made serving the community harder. NFN with an attorney is saying that the actions the city has taken are unconstitutional and are exploring multiple options to keep the service operational in the neighborhood.

the only reason that tech was ever remotely left-coded was that in the early 2010s they consciously aligned themselves with what appeared to be the dominant political party. that meant large donations to Dems and nominal gestures toward diversity. as soon as the winds shifted they swung right.
