RTÉ to boycott Eurovision Song Contest over Israel RTÉ will not participate in or broadcast next year's Eurovision Song Contest after organiser the European Broadcasting Union confirmed today that Israel will be allowed to take part.

At least @rte.ie has enough moral fibre to stand firm on this.

Shame on @ebu.ch. #GenocideWashing and #ApartheidWashing ain’t entertainment. I certainly won’t be watching.

Tweet from the Home Office announcing:
"A new world-first offence will target anyone viewing, accessing or downloading information that could be useful in facilitating illegal small boat journeys to the UK.
There's then a graphic with text that reads: Accessing information to support small boat crossings banned.

We’re acting earlier to prevent Channel crossings before they are launched."

From the people that brought you:
- Let's arrest pensioners for 'terrorism' if they hold up signs.
- Let's leave people seeking sanctuary in limbo for decades.

The British government now presents:
- Let's make looking up dinghies on the Argos website an offence... 🥺

NEW. Another 5% drop in adults doing English & maths. Numbers ⬇️60% since 2011. Matters as 9m adults have low literacy or numeracy, limiting work & life chances. Current trends = 20+ years to fix. DfE attribute latest fall to removing English & maths reqs from apprenticeships, a backward step IMV

To suggest that having lived a life so grim that even an English tribunal will grant you asylum, and to have somehow managed to get here at great risk to life, is a "golden ticket" is absolutely fucking contemptible. Shame on this so-called Labour Party.

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Asylum seekers, housed in hotels in Manchester, are reaching out in their own words to address the concerns of the local community.

Please take a minute to read their letter, & share it with the people in your life who need to hear the truth about the people they are protesting.

Any commentator who blathers on about right-of-centre politicians being ‘woke’ immediately forfeits the right to be taken seriously.

Just disgusting. It’s rightly being widely condemned, but appalling we live in a climate where a gulpin like this can feel so empowered.

Education and Skills in England: more narrowing of horizons for adults? Some thoughts on the British government's Post-16 Education and Skills White Paper, and how adult learning is perceived within England.

Finally managed to pull my initial thoughts on the British govt's Post-16 Education and Skills White paper into a blog.

I'm not the first to vent about adults being just an afterthought and the continued framing of adult learning as solely about 'skills'.

It’s so tiresome- being gaslit by the D4 establishment about ‘reconciliation’ being a prerequisite for reunification.

Miriam O’C parroting the nonsense talking point about the Irish language being ‘weaponised’ is a case in point.

A bitterly disappointing day for our city. Justice denied, again.

It’s small comfort that ****** at least got to see the inside of a courtroom (albeit behind a coward’s curtain) - unlike those who sent him here.

There is no British justice.

Bad day for the rule of law. The state can murder you in front of witness, cameras, frustrate justice for years, oversee destroying evidence and then put it 53 year later before a jury less trial to give themselves the green light about it all. And I have to pay my taxes to fund it

T'was ever thus.

Though at least ****** got to see the inside of a courtroom (albeit behind a coward's curtain) - and has had to live with the possibility of being held to account for his actions.

Sadly, the same can't be said of those who sent him and his muckers to our city.
