That’s what it cost our family for my wife to be on strike for the past 3 weeks. We’re lucky. We can afford it. But knowing that after all that time and money, the only thing that’s changed is she and 50K of her fellow teachers have fewer rights than they did before? It doesn’t feel great.

I think it’s important to differentiate between public servants (people that work for the government irrespective of who is in power) and political staff (those who set policy based on political direction). The awfulness of this government lies with the latter, not the former.

Ah, but she didn’t say that though. She blamed the *union leadership*. They’re doing this really sneaky thing where they only ever blame the union and not the teachers so they never appear to be undermining teachers (even though that’s 100% what they’re doing).

That's basically what's happening in games. Game devs are notorious for paying less than median wages, forcing employees to work obscene hours ("crunch"), and then immediately laying them all off once a game is released. The price is dependent on that exploitation.

We can't ignore costs of production though. There are people who aren't willing to pay more than $20 for jeans. That doesn't change the fact that jeans *should* cost more than that, and we can only get to that price by abusing the people who make them (not unlike video games).

You should be really proud of what you accomplished.

I’m not proud of much I’ve done on social media, but I’m proud of the fact that apparently I have enough principles to give up whatever micro-niche-nanocelebrity you get when you have a few followers.

He conveniently leaves out that she declined to attend because organizers explicitly reframed it as an event in support of Israel, and that she attended the years before AND after when it was apolitical.

The next time someone argues that conservative parties are more fiscally responsible, please remind them that the UCP is forcing cities to spend millions more to hand count ballots just to pander to conspiracy theorists who don't understand the difference between voting machines and vote tabulators.

My 3-year old wanted to make a pudding dessert from one of her books. She came to the grocery store. She helped make the pudding. She mixed in the berries and cookie pieces. She even tried it before we were done and said it was "Yummy!".

Then dessert rolled around and she refused to eat it.

I would never recommend tying your mental health and happiness to the actions of a group of men playing a game thousands of miles away.

But sometimes, it really works out.
