I only found Wreckfest on the play store through sheer blind luck, I'd heard about Downwell, Retro City Rampage and Dead Cells through others.

But yeah, Play Store still seems to think I'm after freemium gacha instead of good stuff I don't mind paying a few quid for.

Bring it on. I'm fed up with superhero saturation - I'd certainly play as Pt1 Speedwagon, Star Platinum, Bruno and maybe Polnareff.

I'm presuming you know about Mario Kart Double Dash, Kirby Air Ride and F-Zero. You might also like Road Trip/Gadget Racers/Choro Q, and there's a few other oddball ones like R Racing Evolution. Most of the great racing games on 6th gen consoles skipped the Gamecube though.

Most people say both NFS Underground games, Most Wanted 2005 and Carbon are good ones. Hot Pursuit 2's pretty good but a different tone to the others.

As for other racing games - Auto Modellista feels like an anime Gran Turismo, and XGRA feels like MotoGP in the near future with weapons.
