"We must recognize that there are thresholds beyond which we will simply exceed the adaptive capacity that human civilization affords us. This is the real lesson your readers should take away from the unprecedented summer we’re currently experiencing."

If @billgates.bsky.social were to read #ScienceUnderSiege by @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social & myself, he would know that climate change is amplifying deadly pandemics. Only someone ignorant of the science adopts the fallacy that we can treat global health and the climate crisis as separate threats

This graph says it all: instead of starting to go down, the *annual increase* of atmospheric CO2 is setting new records. We're making climate change worse at a record rate.
Turning this around should be our top priority, and it's not.

The disaster at the CDC, explained by its former boss
The CDC has lost one-third of its staff this year. What now?
6/ Former CDC director Tom Frieden warned: “Even if [facts] are denied and suppressed and misused and misquoted and cherry-picked, facts are still facts. The plain truth is that most people want to be healthy and safe, and what’s being done now is putting that very much at risk.”

UN agency says CO2 levels hit record high last year, causing more extreme weather
The United Nations weather agency said carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere reached record highs last year, intensifying climate change and extreme weather.
Global carbon dioxide levels hit a record high last year, rising past anything seen in human history, according to @wmo-global.bsky.social.
It’s an urgent reminder of the pressing need to drive emissions down by building a cleaner economy.

Should also do. Tariffs are set by centralised power plants gamers not for the storage price of the electricity I have produced my self and will consume later. Tariffs of today are built for power deficit supply based on fossil reservoir, they have a problem when an uncontrolled excess occurs.
