TX does have the advantage of friendly territory between TX and IL, while CA has to contend with UT and a lack of transportation infrastructure; if WY can hold I-80, CA could get bogged down

but CO is friendly and has some of the largest air capacity in the region (DEN) so maybe stage there

TX has only 2.5x the population of IL so will be bogged down for months (imagine the US invading Russia)—likely unable to survive a midwest winter (not as bad as Russian winter but close)

(compare CA taking WY+SD+ND which is like the US invading the Netherlands except spread out over 15x the area)

from a strategic standpoint, CA should invade WY, ND, and SD (which collectively have a population less than los angeles and only ~5% of the population of CA), install a new government, and flip 6 seats in the senate and 3 seats in the house giving democrats control of both
