My friends with big trucks and SUVs were always amazed how my Corolla All-Trac easily got to the backwoods.

One time even drove way up in the mountains in January to pick my friends arrogant brother up after his F-150 got stuck. Only thing I said was "Gotta be prepared to be out here."

I've been trying to articulate for a bit why the Dems never got behind Mamdani. But at about 2am last night it came to me.

So many Dems think they deserve your vote.

Mamdani went out to earn your vote.

And that's a huge difference.

We were lucky. Pretty rual and not exactly rich. But the mine in the area basically built a school and made the lunch program free. Wasn't exactly organic or non-processed (this was the mid 90s), but the care and skill were still there.

In my elementary school, our 3 lunch ladies took such pride in the school lunch that pretty much every kid stopped bringing their lunch. I don't think I've ever seen people happier with their job.
