My main observation from the last few hours of monitoring US social media is that Democrats are universally denouncing political violence and calling for calm while MAGA are escalating language and openly lusting for retribution against broad categories of people they identity as their enemies.

This is what happens when justice serves power instead of people.

It's important to understand that many people at the top of US journalism genuinely aren't interested in American history or politics. So that's not their skill set. What they do care about it, and are good at, is going to fancy DC parties.

I spent 20+ years working in public affairs communications in DC, and what Jon says is 100% accurate. Monday water cooler convos were a litany of name-dropping from weekend cocktail parties. I once had a boss who attended a church solely on the basis of who the other parishioners were.
