They went farther than Jurassic Park, because in Jurassic Park they brought in experts and lawyers to assess the risks before they opened to the general public.
They took the potential dangers seriously and had precautions in place.
They ultimately decided to abandon the plans for opening the park.

Today we're releasing our new laser powered sandwich slicer. Powerful enough to slice a sandwich from 100 yards away.

*Next day*

We didn't anticipate so many people would point the sandwich slicer at other people but the tech is already out so people will just have to learn how to live with lasers

Do they not have lawyers? Not one person at the company was like "this thing creates copyright violations, is that a problem?" or "can we be sued if we make a video of a real person doing something they wouldn't like?"

I think Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama Gulf Coast should be a different region from the Florida Gulf Coast.

In HP Lovecraft's story "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", written in 1931, the narrator describes taking with him a supply of cheese crackers for his lunch.

A certain brand of cheese crackers was invented in 1921.

This means he quite possibly went to Innsmouth to fight the eldritch horrors of Cthulhu armed with Cheez-Its.

HP Lovecraft might have eaten Cheez-Its

People want to give Brady all the credit for the Patriots dynasty but they forget that the Patriots defense was top 10 for almost every year of that run. And it was often top 5.
You don't get that kind of consistency over 20 years if the coach isn't good.

This is personalism. It's the Charles I scenario -- the king rules without the a legislature and simply taxes and spends in whatever way he feels like.

Impeach, remove, disqualify.

Bill Kristol speaks with more clarity and conviction than all but a select handful of elected Democrats.

"The question was did you have a discussion with the President."

The GOP justices are highly intentional operators. Their approach of total solicitousness to Trump on procedural motions, while punting merits rulings for years, will allow them to time rulings to tie Democrats’ hands, if they see partisan winds shifting. www.offmessage.net/p/the-suprem...

Remember Wikileaks? That website that was very much earnestly concerned about government overreach and abuse and not just an op?

Can the government fire whoever they want during a shutdown? Yes, according to a headline.

We might see people use AI to recreate specific memories. Like trying to take a picture or video of something in the past. But I don't know that many people are going to want an AI to do a poor impersonation of a loved one to act like they're still alive.

As I have been saying for months now, the only way out is through and part of getting through this is pulling the Band-Aid off now versus later we must now force the fascists hand.

MAGA: β€œwhy didn’t Biden release the files and why didn’t you guys call for it?!”

America: β€œBecause we assumed the justice dept was doing their job. But you all demanded it and now Trump is panicking…. So uh, ya now we def want to know why he’s panicking.”

See? Easy!

If Biden had directed the DOJ to be aggressive in prosecuting Trump it would have only made everything worse.
It's true that Garland was a historically bad pick for AG. But I didn't think it was bad when the choice was made. Most people figured he'd have an axe to grind at the time.

I agree about Pelosi and Schumer and Garland, but I don't think Biden could have done anything differently that would have prevented Trump's return.
He acted like the President that everyone said they wanted and we still want. It didn't matter. People didn't like that prices went up because of COVID

I was a skeptic about the import of the Epstein files.

But 3 invasions of cities, one military buildup outside Venezuela, a government shutdown, and so many other things meant to distract have me convinced whatever’s in there is the biggest presidential scandal in U.S. history.

Same paragraph he seems to reference Iraq having WMDs which was very wrong.
Is this paragraph saying the threats are real and we aren't dealing with them or that the threats are overblown?
Either way he's wrong about one of them and offers nothing in the way of a concrete prediction.

If so, what was the crime they were convicted of?

They blocked Harriet Tubman from the $20 so they could keep Andrew "trail of tears" Jackson. Now they're fast tracking a Trump coin?

Letting a wannabe dictator president act like he's a king is a weird way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of this country.

Doesn't make it constitutional though.

We're not at war with Venezuela, these boats are many hundreds of lines from our waters, much less our shores, there is no threat, this is just murder.

I really do think everyone from the SecDef to the guy who pushed the button should be tried for murder on this.
