The AJC to cut staff as it continues digital transformation The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said Tuesday it will lay off staffers in the newsroom and other segments of the business.

I just keep thinking about the fact that the AJC has one hundred thousand digital subscribers and still laid off 15% of its staff this week.

How much money is enough? How many subscribers is enough? When is the blame purely on the execs instead of the journalists?

This looks to be an extraordinary overperformance for Dems. With more than three-fourth of the vote in, the Dem leads by more than 20%.

The aurora last night in Beaver, Alaska was just incredible. This is a real-time video (not sped up) of the crazy motion I saw. Also, look how BRIGHT it is, wow!

It’s a huge part of Alaska history - especially in Fairbanks, where the aircraft departed from. (There’s a statue downtown.)

But also, a lot of massive runways that have been maintained and used since the war.

I mean, maybe you can forget about Lend Lease in the lower 48 but in Alaska, where massive runways were built in small villages solely for the transport of aircraft to the USSR, well, the program is right in front of you every time you fly.

I open up bluesky, see far too many people talking about WW2 who have never heard of the Lend Lease program, roll my eyes and post a link.

It is kind of crazy that Alaska has more athletes in the winter Olympics than entire countries. And not just warm weather countries! There are more Olympians just from Anchorage than the Icelandic Olympic Team, despite Iceland have a larger population than Anchorage.

This is very sad, but nothing thus far provides a hint as to why the helicopter crashed. We need the NTSB’s Preliminary Report for that.

Great cars, great clothes and fantastic cinematography- the colors in this movie are gorgeous.

I mean, M’s eyes almost perfectly match his suit!

I love this movie. It’s Connery at his coolest plus Jack Lord as his CIA counterpart - everyone in it is stylish as hell from start to finish.

In 1998 it looks very blatantly like he was all about helping America West, which was based in AZ. He denied it, but that’s what happened after his DCA interference.

I’ll have info on that in the newsletter.

I keep thinking about the Military History course I had in college (at Univ of AK Fairbanks) taught by a retired major. He showed us in every single war/engagement we covered how supply lines & intelligence were crucial to victory. He could've just been a "glory" guy; instead, he celebrated smart.

…noise at National”

Later in the article a member of that District board noted the name change likely foresaw more federal intrusion into the local process.

He was right. The next year, Congress began interfering in flight activity at National (Reagan).

Give Trump this & he will do the same.

A WaPo article from Feb 1998:

Cape May's "ghost tracks" are century-old, rusted railroad remnants buried in the sand at Higbee Beach and Sunset Beach in New Jersey, used for sand mining and World War I munitions, only appearing after major storms reveal them before being reburied again by sand.

I was sued over a commercial aviation article. It can happen to any reporter on any topic.

Sigh.
