That is a Shoebill, native to the marshlands of central Africa.
It is on my (tbh extensive) list of wildlife I would love to see in it's natural habitat.

Nice summary - I agree there was a drop in quality in the 2000s. I would add Craig Thomas to the list - his #Firefox (turned into a Clint Eastwood movie) is often mentioned as the 1st techno-thriller. The follow-up Firefox Down, and my favourite Winter Hawk are terrific.

In August I decided to set myself the (potentially stupid) target of hitting 1,000,001 at #darts. Self-imposed rules:

I am clearly a poor darts player, so curious to see if I actually improve!
