I’m seeing this in my own classroom already. This is lifelong trauma being formed in real time.

A trial or "petit" jury is made up of 12 people and lasts for the length of a trial to determine guilt/not guilty.

A Grand Jury meets one or two days a week for 18-24 months. 16-23 people meet privately and consider many cases to determine whether prosecutors have "probable cause" to go to trial.

If you or someone you know is called for a Grand Jury, please step up, please hold the line, and please know you are a fucking hero.

It's been six years since I made the hardest and best decision. I asked for help, learned how to use new tools, built networks of support, and developed resilience.

I can't know what would have happened if I hadn't done all this work. But I do know life is better with clarity, purpose, and sleep.
