Certified woman here. I’d personally love it if the appliances they made actually worked. My GE brand washing machine made by Haier is failing after two years. Their ad should feature me taking a nap after washing my clothes by hand.

It won’t turn on and it makes this weird click noise, so it’s now unplugged and resting. Mentally preparing myself to spend another 1k on a new washing machine because of course it’s a POS.

I always got “why don’t you talk more?” I either don’t want to, don’t think you’ll listen anyway, or don’t have anything nice to say. So yeah.

Almost a month later…my washer still works and I guess is ok? I don’t really trust it. Lesson learned: get an extended warranty!

I later discovered that the tech who never showed left me 2 more voicemails. They only took a few hours to come thru. My crappy Verizon service gave me a migraine and near meltdown, but saved me at least $100 for a service call I didn’t actually need. Is this a win??

So I found a 3rd repair place. They need the model number and what is wrong. I’m describing how the machine clicked and won’t turn on so we just unplugged it. Go to confirm the noise while on the phone with said repair place. Lo and behold it turns on. Miracles! And it seems to work now!

So, basically I lost my appointment bc my phone didn’t ring. They can’t come again until NEXT WEDNESDAY. I’m imagining the mounds of laundry that must be manually schlepped by me to a laundromat. So I tried another repair place. They can’t come until next Thursday. Even worse!

“Hey, your phone goes straight to vm, contact the office to reschedule”. I called the tech back, no reply. No reply from the office either. I left voicemails. No idea what’s going on. Then the appliance repair scheduler calls me back. The tech went to the South Hills, may not make it today.

It had acted up the day before but just decided on Sunday that it wasn’t going to turn on. I got an appointment for repair on Wednesday (today) with the promise of a call before the tech showed up. I was making oatmeal within earshot of my phone. Didn’t hear a call but later I saw a voicemail.

My washing machine saga. Several years ago, I bought a new washing machine. It was a Samsung and a piece of crap. It was a top load and despite running clean cycles, it would leave stuff (soap scum) on our clothes. I replaced it two years ago. On Sunday, it stopped working.

I had a delightful conversation with an ornithologist once about how blue jays are pretty birds but total assholes.

Honestly, I don’t think either is very progressive and an agent for change. We are stuck again voting for the least bad.
