Hmmm, idk. This sounds like something a villain masquerading as an author would say to get us all to agree with them. πŸ€”

Everyone probably already knows this, but Cory Doctorow is hilarious!

I’d heard his name and the term enshittification before, but Internet Archive’s book talk was the first time I heard him speak.

Glad I got to attend live.

I loved this booktalk. I can’t wait for the recording.

I respect this position despite being paper and ink for life.

I’ve noticed the benefits of ebooks when it comes to reading in French because I need to look up definitions more frequently and I can stay in context while searching.

Cover of The Waning by Wunmi Aramiji. Black womanhood with a headdress covering her face standing in front of golden sun on a black backdrop. The character wears a veil that covers their eyes. The veil looks like the night sky with stars.

Now reading The Waning by Wunmi Aramiji.

The author’s note alone has me in my feelings. πŸ₯Ή

Pagebound is cool because it’s a forum mixed with book tracking. Each book has a forum (think Reddit) where you can discuss the books with others. Then there’s also a space where you can leave reviews (separate from the active discussion). Bc it’s dedicated to books, I get more interaction there.

I’m grateful for whoever coined the term "mood reader" because yes, it’s me. Lol

I have about 4 books going right now. I’m not always the best about finishing them, but I’ve been more intentional lately.

Are you on Pagebound? It’s my fav book app. (I’m not affiliated. I just love it.)

I have often felt that Americans, which includes myself, have a habit of entertaining ourselves to death. Amusement is such a huge part of our lives, and it interferes with us doing the necessary but uncomfortable thing. I didn’t narrow it to humor though, which is interesting to think about.

Maybe Gideon is preparing for the role of Mufasa. It will be riveting.

I’ve read Dark Matter, Recursion, Upgrade and Pines. Dark Matter and Recursion are my favs. Pines was good but it threw me for a loop that I haven’t recovered from lol. Upgrade, I could’ve done without.

Overall, I like his writing style and his stories. I love being on the edge of my seat.

It’s weird how all the "hot" businesses cultivate selfish, obsessive and addictive behaviors. Social media, betting, private equity. Hoarding, endless scrolling, risk taking that then escalate to violence.

The concept is chilling enough, but then they made the ad like a trailer to a horror film with the upbeat but somehow chilling music and the eerie way they look at the screen.

I can see that. Things get complicated fast when you interfere with time. I generally like the premise and all of the fallout from interfering with time. Even when it’s not tidy, there are interesting things to ponder.

I suck at plotting though, so there’s that. πŸ˜‚
