โ€˜I Didnโ€™t Make a Mistakeโ€™: Trump Declines to Apologize for Racist Video of Obamas

Trump says he was the one who decided to post the video with racist imagery of the Obamas, not an anonymous aide, but says he didn't watch to the end before sending it to "the people" to post for him. But he has no regrets. "No, I didnโ€™t make a mistake." www.nytimes.com/2026/02/06/u...

Opinion | ICE is clearly out of control. This week the Senate can actually do something about it. Alex Pretti's shooting in Minneapolis turned Senate Democrats against ICE and DHS funding at a pivotal moment, with another shutdown looming.

more re: the real test of Congress this week:

"The question is not whether to use government funding as leverage to accomplish a policy aim. The question is whether the funding Congress is considering for DHS will be used to violate the law, and our rights." www.ms.now/opinion/ice-...

Since July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process.

This is one that stands out:

There's an episode of Black Mirror in which soldiers are unwittingly programmed to see humans as mutants they call roaches who are actually victims of genocide. I think about that episode a lot more these days. That and Vampire Diaries, the recurring plotlines about their humanity being switched off

In the Dark: Whoโ€™s Really to Blame for the Great SF Blackout? โ€˜The fish rots from the head,โ€™ says one expert โ€” and the smell is coming from the governorโ€™s mansion.

ICYMI: Itโ€™s too simple to cast PG&E as the villain in SFโ€™s recent blackout, argues @idamoj.bsky.social.

The CPUC is supposed to regulate the utility โ€” but commissioners are appointed by the governor and, as one expert put it, โ€œthe fish rots from the head.โ€ www.coyotemedia.org/in-the-dark-...

A young protester narrowly avoided being killed but was left permanently blind after a Department of Homeland Security agent fired a nonlethal round at close range during a Santa Ana protest last week, according to family of the victim.

Jeri Rees said her 21-year-old nephew, Kaden Rummler, underwent six hours of surgery and that doctors found shards of plastic, glass and metal embedded in his eyes and around his face, including a metal piece lodged 7 millimeters from a carotid artery.

it was about the same number but within a year of the 2022 protests. please don't treat these numbers as normal, just like we wouldn't here.
