Dr continues: Maybe we'd even allow you back into proper, nonfat society. Glad I could help out today.

OYRHA: But my cough.

Dr.: Probably your fat throat.

OYRHA: Yeah, okay, thanks.

Cue sad Charlie Brown music as OYRHA slowly walks out (while coughing.)

I love going to the doctor.

Dr.: Hey, have you tried eating better and exercising. I’ve got some colorful pamphlets here that’ll tell you important things like β€œjust eating candy is bad for you.” You probably didn’t know that as someone who is fat. These pamphlets should revolutionize your fat life.

OYRHA: Yes, you’d be surprised at the efforts that go into me trying to not be fat. Sometimes I even succeed for a little bit, but I always seem to creep back up. I seem to have a combination of genetics and mentality that makes it really hard to maintain weight loss.

OYRHA: Yes, I am well aware of my fatness. As I was saying…

Dr. Because we weighed you again. And you are FAT. And being fat is the worst.

OYRHA: Again, I know that I am fat.

Dr. Here’s an idea. Have you ever tried not being fat?

One act-play entitled β€œTubby Archivist Goes to the Doctor.”

Dramatis Personae:

Overweight, yet ruggedly handsome, archivist
Doctor
Scene: Doctor’s Office

Dr: How can I help?

OYRHA: I’ve got this lingering cough that …

Dr:. Before you go on, I need to make sure you know you’re fat.

I do not want to β€œDo my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

Four college students in costume. Two of the costumes seem inspired from Lil' Abner. One of the costumes combines elements from the costumes of both Shazam and Superman. The last costume is unclear - but consists of a long skirt/dress, a cape, and a garland of flowers.

Looking through the old Colorado State College yearbooks for the first evidence of superheroes, I found a photograph from a 1941 dance. It looks like one of the students is wearing a costume combing elements from the costumes of both Superman and Shazam.

Looks like drinking with skeletons went poorly. Not sure what was said to start the fight, but it looks intense.

In the spirit of Dr. Parcak's post, it is the RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS who are making you use a colon instead of a comma in front of the page numbers when citing a journal using the Chicago Manual of Style. My students do want SOMEONE to blame for the CMOS.

just finished the Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. It was brutal, horrific, and amazing.

There was even an archivist character. Always happy to see my people represented in horror fiction. (We are the keepers of secrets and mysteries.)

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joyβ€”they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

'Raise the Shire!' said Merry. 'Now! Wake all our people! They hate all this, you can see: all of them except perhaps one or two rascals, and a few fools that want to be important, but don't at all understand what is really going on. But Shire-folk have been so comfortable so long they don't know what to do. They just want a match, though, and they'll go up in fire. The Chief's Men must know that. They'll try to stamp on us and put us out quick. We've only got a very short time.

UVA Tried To Shut Down Its Historical Tours Discussing Slavery. These Students Resisted. A conservative alumni group took issue with the discussion of difficult parts of UVA’s history.

While the university has ended the group's special status designation, with the support of the student body, student guides are doubling down on their commitment to share their campus’ history.

Just saw a guy wearing a shirt that said "Size matters!" and it had a bunch of bullets with their dimensions printed all over it. I figure the guy must have gone to the store to buy a "I'm a moron" shirt, but they ran out, so he got the next best thing.

When Nazi officials opened their "Degenerate Art" exhibition in 1937, they labeled modern art as ideologically impure. Now, nearly 90 years later, Trump's order targeting the Smithsonian uses similar language about "improper ideology" and "divisive narratives."
