"More power and control" of what? To who's benefit?

See, these are the questions nobody asks, but are essential. Who benefits from these regulations? In this case, removing them makes the wealthy wealthier, and the poor more sick.

Even with a course (which would help)....prices go *UP* when you deal with vendors, but not for freelancers. Every vendor I know is charging 25-50% more than 5 years ago...every freelancer I know is charging exactly the same rates.

Just saw one where, for fun, I guessed what the quote would be before I looked at it...my guess: $50 - Actual cost $675

Dear freelance artists who worry about charging too much:

I work on a TV show that outsources incredibly simple graphic printing because we have too much to do in house.

I've seen the purchase orders - You are not charging too much.

As a professional concept artist and illustrator, let me ASSURE YOU that many jobs in my industry have utterly gone away. I used to make good money working on pitch packages for producers, and now they just use AI. There are production designers I used to work with that now do all concepts with AI.

As someone who has written a couple of books on this issue, a lot of people ask me about this and the one thing I've found is that most folks do not understand the sheer scale of what will happen IF (and I'm saying IF) they get AI to work. Self-driving cars alone will wipe out MILLIONS of jobs.

Jeez, we get more cyberpunk every day.

Lately, I've been way more into capturing a "live" feeling that worrying about being able to re-create the session later...which is really different from my old days, where I had to record EVERY SINGLE knob tweak or it 'didn't count'.

Yeah, doing it in the DAW is probably "better"...but I find that I play differently when I can tweak the knobs on the pedals....and I'm trying to get in the headspace where I can play live this year.
