Yeah...It's literally a 50% pay cut from illustrator / concept artist, and I have the ego-bruising of knowing I'm doing the least paid job in the union...but it is a *paid job* at least.

I am SO THANKFUL I don't have children. I can't imagine holding my shit together in the evenings and weekends if I had little ones who (rightly) demanded my attention.

Mostly, everyone is too busy and tired to offer congratulations for jobs well done, so I'd say 85% of the feedback you get is negative, and often in a highly stressful situation.

12+ hours, day in, day out. You hear about it for video games during crunch time, but it is just the norm for TV and film. It's dark when I arrive at work, it's been dark for hours when I leave....there are no windows in the art department. I see daylight when I go to print shops to pick things up.

What they don't tell you about working on a TV show, even in the art department, is the level of GRIND. We are 3 months in, with 4 to go. It's MONDAY, and the team all looks ready to die by the end of the day....and we'll all be back here again tomorrow at 7:00am.

Yeah, I don't EVER look at the USA for examples of how to maintain a modern country in 2025.

A nuclear bomb is "just a tool for killing people"...but I'm glad there are more restrictions placed on acquiring one than, say, a shotgun.

...and maybe it *is* 'Just a tool.' That doesn't mean *YOU* know what is the appropriate job for that tool, or that you know how to use the tool, or that it is the best tool for the job. There are a lot more nuances to that discussion than you probably want to get into.

Listening to an AI Bro say that AI is the future of research and art is like listening to a meth addict say that fentanyl is the future of pain management.

"It's just a tool, right?"

No...but you are.

Sample loops are awesome too btw..I don't think you should make a song ONLY using loops (particularly if they all are in the same genre/pack), but they can be fun to play with!

After using a fair number of loops and samples recently, I now seem to be going through a "play it live as I record" phase - which is fine with me :)

I did "forge" Goya's signature on the bottom, and the story was it was a lost painting that Wilford "acquired", probably less-than-legally.

Painting in the style of Goya's "Saturn Eating His Children": Two young men at night in front of a dead tree. One, wearing only a loincloth, is holding a club and standing over the prone body of the other.

This one is a little different - When I was on Snowpiercer S2, the Production Designer was looking for paintings for Wilford's cabin, and I whipped this up on spec. It ended up prominently displayed, and then a producer claimed it and took it home when the show ended.
