Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as β€œexceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

LitRPG & Progression micro-reviews for 2024!

#21 Mage Errant by John Bierce

Magic school misfits get into trouble and get out of it in ways that eventually lead to more trouble and maybe the end of the world, while having surprisingly healthy relationships.

I've been an avid reader since I was young. It's harder as I get older, and I use audio books and know that I can get an e-reader to give me a bigger font. What I am trying to understand is what is LitRPG? Is this a book that is read? Is it a game a la a board game?
Any help from the BlueSky folks?

When done correctly an author can use the presence of objective info about characters to tell interesting stories. Some tales include an objective arbitrator of the β€œrules” (often just called The System) which can be used as an interesting plot device.
It could be argued the OG Jumanji counts.

My personal take: it’s what happens when you introduce game mechanics into a setting in a diegetic way. The simplest example is if the characters in the most recent story you read could suddenly perceive that they had stats and attributes like a D&D or video game character.

Burning Starlight Out of Retirement. Out of Options. Out of Fucks to Give. Retirement was supposed to be simple: a quiet apartment near the Saginaw River, maybe a hobby or two. Blake Connover survived decades of milita...

Have you ever thought to yourself: β€œI wish there was a science-fantasy LitRPG that spends 16 chapters on character establishment before finally introducing the System?”

If so, you’d be the first. But hey, I’m writing it anyway.

So is any work of fiction an isekai by this logic? I ask because I’m into expanding my β€œyour favorite childhood stories were all isekais” argument. πŸ˜†

Hi all, I'm Ryn and I write litrpg under my dead name turned penname Jonathan Smidt! For those who don't know, litrpg novels are books with video game mechanics added to them (think like isekai anime and such). If you enjoy video games and DnD, you'll enjoy these!

There's a bizarre and ongoing mainstream effort to launder RFK Jr into someone who just wants to get Americans eating nutritious food and exercising again but that is not evidenced anywhere in his public statements or career in public life.

He is a liar and conspiracist.

Discussion on no longer creating for an audience

Discussion on no longer creating for an audience

A big part of my growth as both an artist and writer, esp with my comics, is no longer caring what an audience thinks of my work. Tyree is some of my best work BECAUSE it is specifically for myself and experimental. Some of my favorite indie comics follow this method as well.
