That question should really be directed at the government. Sadly we all know what the answer would be. Ridiculous state of affairs.

Medvedev said the Russians have the same Trump sex tapes as Mossad. Given Trump’s known proclivities it’s not at all unlikely they have kompromat on him. Would explain a lot about how he deals with Russia and Israel.

An enjoyable and informative book. Recommended.

The US doesn’t seem to be a serious country any more. It is a fascinating real time example of how empires die from within.

Historians will in future ascribe similar weight and meaning to ‘Maga’ as they do now to ‘Nazi’.

Not often the Mail gets it right but this certainly is. Lots of US commentators have noticed. I’m sure Trump will be indifferent but he’s losing friends fast or should I say bigly?

Never underestimate the vengeful nihilism at the heart of this movement. The glitter-eyed fanatics behind Project 2025 and other such programmes will smash whatever is most precious to you, partly at the behest of commercial interests – but also to enjoy watching the pain it inflicts. They will crush beauty, joy, community and hope precisely because other people value them.

Here's one of the warnings I gave in an article before the US election. It's devastating to see it all happening.

Putin really must have some good kompromat on Trump. Epstein Island maybe?

Given that we are only 55% self sufficient in food requirements and 60% of farmland is only fit for grazing maybe we need a filter? Recently large solar sites have been agreed on productive arable land. I think solar should only go on land unsuitable for arable cropping. Say worse than grade 3.

Agricultural land should always come behind rooftops for solar. It seems the government is finally waking up to this. Ed Milliband has approved numerous solar installations on farmland thereby reducing food security and adding to fossil fuel usage to import more food. It must stop.

Speaking as a Brit I find our news services quite irritating at times. Having read your post I think I need to revisit that assessment.

One of the reasons Starmer wants to keep the EU at a distance is due to the Freeport and Sez rollout which is not allowed under EU state aid rules. He shares the Tories Singapore on Thames vision. Cheap labour, minimal workers rights etc.

Dan Neidle appears to have changed his mind having become acquainted with the facts. Maybe Byline Times should too?

Starmer (and to be fair the Tories) are so wedded to the idea of Sezs that we are now unable to rejoin the EU owing to the Sez amounting to state aid. The economic model underpinning the Sez is Singapore on Thames. We are sleepwalking towards a Victorian exploitative jobs market.

Light at the end of the tunnel. A footpath with the hedges intertwined to make a tunnel near where I live. Lovely dappled light.

I have no problem with the mega wealthy like Dyson losing their exemption but to potentially ruin family farms is simply not acceptable. The lack of understanding of how farming works displayed by the government is woeful. At the very least the threshold needs raising and a taper system brought in.
