For sure there are gears moving behind the scenes.
Also, gotta give her credit, resigning come Jan 5 means she hits the 5 year minimum to receive the pension of a congressperson starting when she's 62...
We chose the wrong public service...

Silver lining.
I used to be fairly athletic & it was impossible to buy clothes...
Shirts that fit my shoulders were swimming around the waist.
Pants that fit butt/ thighs were way too loose around the waist.
As I've aged and "rounded out" more clothes actually off the rack fit.
Mixed blessings.

Post from X
"The US Department of Education will reclassify and no longer consider the following professional degrees:
Education (incl teaching)
Nursing
Social work
Physician assistant
Occupational therapy
Physical therapy
Audiology
Speech pathology
Engineering
Counseling & therapy"
WTF are we doing?
Teachers can't do their job without the support of these professionals.
(This is regarding loan repayment, by not classifying these, they wouldn't qualify for loan repayment after X yrs of service)

That's usually my initial response... what kind of cost/ data grab BS is this?
If it was for me i would just ignore it and go on with my life.
But it's for the kid... i feel like I gotta do a bit more diligence before dismissing it.

Reposting for the evening crew. Any insight?
Looks like it's organized by Envision, which is a for-profit organization, which, at least, on the surface looks to have a decent mission.

Do any middle school teachers have any information about the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC)?
My 10yo just got an invitation... and while it sounds neat, the pessimist in me can't help but thing it's some kind want-to-do-good-for-your-kid money grab...

Random cooking news - picked up a griddle insert off Marketplace. Never had a griddle or felt like I needed one, but for the price, figured it a decent addition
My first dinner cooked entirely in the outdoor kitchen. Fried rice, ginger garlic chix, steamed broc

My 10yo butted heads with his T (cause he can be stubborn ass like... me)
Teacher raised his voice at my kid, which didn't go over well. Then wrote a email to us about it.
We were like "this is our kid. Figure out how to have a relationship with him"

I have a math degree from a Big10 school
At the time there were 11 schools in the conference, which felt wrong, but I could justify it as "off by one," a fairly common math-y error
There are now 18 schools in the Big10
Hate to say it, but pretty much sums up the state of our academic institutions

Today a buddy & I broke down a 17+lb ribeye roast
We cut & vacuum sealed 16 steaks, ~1lb stir fry & rendered fat into tallow.
We then did a "meat draft" where we alternated selecting which pieces we wanted.
I dominated.
Also decided we're doing a meat white elephant exchange. Suckling pig anyone?
