Completely agree on realism. I do think the game could be more FUN with some “survival” features though. In particular, a lot of the afflictions and hazards seem heavily defanged, and addiction is a joke.
But in no way should they aim for the boring realities of space travel.

Yeah, unfortunately nothing else climactic happens for another 60 chapters or so. And Arlong Park only ends at 90. So they will need a full season 2 to really go any further.

It’s a lot of fun! I like to crank the number of recipes and ingredients way up and turn the shrinking down, just to run around mixing stuff.

The game Size Matters has you die if you don’t craft the final recipe in time, and the recipes are random each game.
However, you do start with multiple ingredients, not just one, and every needed recipe is somewhere in the level.

So, might be a useful starting point if you want to explore this!

En Garde is super fun. Would love to see an adaption of these mechanics for a tabletop RPG or boardgame. There is so much creative potential in how you can manipulate the environment and enemies to create openings, and it would only get more exciting with multiple players.

En Passant is early on the pawn branch, and castling is probably a king tech. The end of the pawn tree is the option to promote them to queens (instead of just K/B/R).) Knights get jumping over pieces… Beyond the existing moves, probably something to shift your bishop one square to the side?

It's fun that my lightbar provides an emotional guide to the hue wheel, but they could have just said "Do you want it green or do you wanna suffer?"

10/10 choice for 2D games
