He wonโt be the only one standing and surely the Labour Party membership wouldnโt vote for such a right wing candidate?

He wonโt be the only one standing and surely the Labour Party membership wouldnโt vote for such a right wing candidate?
13.11.2025 09:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Absolutely. Very few people buy newspapers now. Some newspaper websites do have huge readership, so might be worth look at those too. Alternatively the BBC should have the journalistic confidence to set its own agenda.
11.11.2025 13:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Trump is incredibly unpopular here! including amongst Tory voters. What are they doing?
11.11.2025 11:22 โ ๐ 727 ๐ 160 ๐ฌ 52 ๐ 9If Farage wins, Iโm split on what happens to the BBC. Does he just straight up abolish or reform to an unrecognisable state.
Or does he find he quite likes the set up and reach, and forces it to slowly GB News itself.
Can you imagine the response if Starmer tried to sue a national broadcaster in the US? It wouldnโt happen and itโs about time Starmer stood up to Trump or he will keep coming back for more.
10.11.2025 16:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A social media post by Karoline Leavitt (The White House Press Secretary) showing two news headlines side-by-side. The left headline, under a caption that reads "Shot" reads: "Trump goes to war with 'fake news' BBC," and the right headline under a caption that reads "Chaser" reads: "Tim Davie resigns as BBC director general over Trump documentary edit."
I had my disagreements with the BBC under Tim Davie but he was a decent man doing a difficult job.
To see Trump's White House claiming credit for his downfall and attacking the BBC should worry us all.
Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?
I can't imagine a job i'd like to do less. Managing an organisation held to a ludicrous standard by roaring idiots on a daily basis, while the main mediums it uses are all in decline and it's starved of resources.
09.11.2025 18:25 โ ๐ 286 ๐ 39 ๐ฌ 14 ๐ 3Frankly ridiculous self-flagellation by the BBC again. The speech didnโt need to be edited or abridged to show what it was. But for Director General and Director of News the resign is massively over the top and peddles the actual lie that Trump didnโt try to end US democracy in 2021.
09.11.2025 18:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Pregnancy and childbirth are highly complicated and full of risks. It is notable that amongst medicine so much of this area has been transferred to people without medical degrees or postgraduate medical training.
08.11.2025 22:37 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The greens are no doubt doing better than before, but a lot of people who understand polls seem to take issue with FindOutNowโs methodology and previous record. As a journalist you should indicate that in your post.
06.11.2025 18:27 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 7 ๐ 0sorry everyone Iโm just having a lot of fun with the congestion charge debate because look I live outside the ring road in a village with not great bus service and I personally think the CC is one of the best things to happen to Oxford this year
04.11.2025 16:09 โ ๐ 250 ๐ 17 ๐ฌ 14 ๐ 1I expect the Greens donโt have the infrastructure yet to target beyond 10-20 seats, but you can see how the logic on tactical voting will quickly flip in a hailstorm of targeted campaigning. And there will be a lot of 2nd places like for Lib Dems in 2019 which then produced the jump for 2024.
28.10.2025 11:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Credit to the Greens over the last 5 years in terms of their campaigning organisation. They have much better literature and now actually target.
Moan all you want about bar charts, but they work. And a lot of them are going to be produced next May.
But Labour really need to do better and quick. People I know who voted Labour last time are not at all happy, and so I think any tactical appeal will have significantly diminishing returns. At some point with this you end up with the far right in charge.
24.10.2025 11:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My assumption currently is that we are headed to a hung parliament next time round with Reform as the opposition because I think some level of tactical voting will hold against the right wing consolidation. This shows that is possible.
24.10.2025 11:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I donโt think the far right party *only* getting 36% yesterday is good news. Itโs bad news and shows Reform are probably on course for a lot more seats next time round.
24.10.2025 11:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0By the way, the Conservatives won 17% in Caerphilly at the last Senedd election. Last night was also the story of their absolute wipe-out. Theyโve always been comparatively weak in Wales since devolution, but to see them on 2% is brutal.
24.10.2025 06:39 โ ๐ 106 ๐ 18 ๐ฌ 8 ๐ 1If the traitors vote as 1 is it even possible for them to lose at this point? Itโs certainly very narrow at 5-3 and with at least 1 faithful after this to be murdered. Presumably the producers will need to think of something clever.
23.10.2025 21:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Disgusting policy proposed by a horrible and racist party. A party that is nothing like the one it was 10 years ago.
I think we need to be clear that proposing to deport 5% of the population of the UK is well outside any norm of British politics we are used to.

Wes Streeting could very quickly sort out the unemployment crisis amongst Doctors in this country, but chooses not to.
21.10.2025 15:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Absolutely maddening reading a thread on the Resident Doctors forum where F2 Doctors are sharing tips on applications to become baristas, warehouse workers and uber drivers.
Nothing wrong with the above jobs, but what a waste of 6 years of medical school and 2 years of Doctoring.
Pointlessly started a battle with a good manager and will now reap the rewards of a Chairman who interferes too much. Seen it all before as a Saints fan.
18.10.2025 14:06 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Wonโt last this way to the election, but a small bump and an outlier away from a Reform Lib Dem 1 + 2. Perhaps in the build up to next yearโs locals.
14.10.2025 10:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Would be nice to see the increased chunk of people voting for Lib Dems and Greens (29%) discussed as much as those voting Reform (27%).
07.10.2025 11:49 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The Lib Dems found themselves in a bit of a predicament themselves after the coalition. And it should not be underestimated how the hyper engaged and happy to campaign membership kept it going. By-elections like Witney, Richmond in particular were important.
07.10.2025 08:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The Tories will find being a 3rd party incredibly hard and unforgiving if they donโt have an enthusiastic and engaged membership to do the leg work.
How else will people know about them and to vote for them if they donโt have money to pay for publicity or people to talk to others?
We are fast heading towards a system seen in other western countries where every election is between bland centrists/technocrats and authoritarians who want to stop democracy. The democratic side isnโt going to win every time.
05.10.2025 16:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Watching the Kuenssberg interview this morning, I thought essentially this with Mordaunt on the panel.
Do not want the Tories to do well, but a centre-right/right party is going to exist and youโd rather have the Tories of the last decade than the current extreme lot.
True. But most people canโt name many politicians. Would even say Daisy Cooper is a stretch! Suspect a former leader like Tim Farron is likely to have more, though still limited, name recognition.
