I will add -- personal opinion -- the DOD press release cherry picks studies this OSD thinks will sound 'useless'. But also canceled are studies on straight warfighting topics like how to best team AI and humans, or how space weapons affect deterrence. They just hate social science, period.

I went through the Trump mass-deportation/'national security' executive orders, detailing what they authorize, & I identified a certain heritage. I'm not saying that's the only context for them, just that it's a present & operative one.

I hate this headline, because it dishonestly portrays the subject as having changed, when what really happened was reporters & editors went along with a heroic self-mythology rather than performing scrutiny and now realize what a mistake that was, w/o owning up to it.
