The DOD Law of War Manual states: "Members of the armed forces must refuse to comply with clearly illegal orders to commit law of war violations." It also states: "Each member of the armed services has a duty to: (1) comply with the law of war in good faith; and (2) refuse to comply with clearly illegal orders to commit violations of the law of war..."

The only reason to be upset that service men & women may be aware of this information is if you are issuing, or intend to issue, illegal orders.
