How many people forced to steal food would this campaign feed, I wonder.
You also have to include the cost of prosecuting and then jailing people for stealing food.
Or you could feed them.

The thing we have tried, more than anything else, is building more lanes for cars.

So we know that room for cars doesn't work.

As a driver this looks great to me. I hate blocking a sidewalk with people on it while waiting to make my turn, but I often need to inch forward to see if there's an opening.

Numbing both the military and population to using the military illegally. If Trump were to position himself as the source of money for the military I'd be very, very worried.

Up to a certain point, bike lanes benefit more drivers than cyclists. Each person who choses to bike instead of drive improves the drive for every other driver, and as a cyclist, just for themself.

Drivers should be mad that *more* bike lanes aren't being built.

And permanent bus lanes too, right? When Bank is busy it is a nightmare and the only solution is transit

We're only had thousands of years of tougher laws and policing not preventing crime. Surely we need more data before we try anything else?

Unless the city vindictively directs police away from wards who's councillor questions the police budget, crime increases in a ward would be unrelated to the councillor's views on police budgets.

With a bike you just stop.

Like how their "fiscally conservative" policies are actually bad economically, their "tough on crime" policies are also known to do nothing to prevent crime. It's just populist rhetoric based on punishment for the sake of punishment.

They complain about the cost of plowing bike lanes but plowing and then surfacing bike lanes for skating is fine.

Major improvements in 10 years with the right mayor. We almost had that in Ottawa but the city elected Mark Sutcliffe who fights on the side of cars, not people.

Oh, and developers. He has their back.

Volunteers Jumped Out of a Plane Without a Parachute to Test the Efficacy of Parachutes Fifteen years ago, researchers said it would be impossible to do a randomized controlled trial of parachute safety. A team of scientists from Harvard, the University of Michigan, and UCLA disagreed.

Building more homes increased supply? Really?
When are we getting a study on whether parachutes improve survivability when falling out of airplanes?

Fund transit: If you do, you get less traffic.
If you don't, you get endless construction and road expansions that costs more than funding transit and doesn't reduce congestion.

If injuries go up it is directly the fault of the Ontario government. If they didn't looked at this data, it is negligence. If they did, it is conspiracy. They would have said: more people will die but it is a sacrifice they're willing to make for a few seconds saved.

Cars might work fine in California or Florida, but they’re not practical here in Canada. We have winter.

Bill 60: Ontario government bypasses democratic process After steamrolling through Bill 56 that bans speed cameras, the Ontario government is planning on bypassing the democratic process again (ie no public committee hearings) for Bill 60, the so-called…

The ON government will bypass committee hearings entirely on Bill 60. 😑

This gov. is:
➑️ putting people’s lives at risk
➑️ stripping cities of the power to make their streets safe for people outside cars

We can’t afford to remain silent. Voice your opposition now! πŸ‘‡

Some polling was done for Lansdowne 2.0, lo and behold the top issue for people polled was improving transportation to Lansdowne. What better way to provide better access to Lansdowne than safe, dedicated 24/7 bus lanes?

Hey Ontario! You've heard of the disastrous Ford bill to destroy tenant rights, but did you know that Omnibus Bill 60 would entirely wipe out the ability of cities to right-size their roads by reducing lanes _at all_, not even just for bike lanes?

I may not have explained myself well: I'm saying that they build infrastructure with enough capacity for future expansion, so increasing density in existing housing does not necessarily mean the infrastructure must be immediately upgraded.
But I could be misremembering.

02.10.2025 15:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Correct me if I'm wrong: They overbuiid sewers and other infrastructure so they don't need to replace it due to population growth. right? So when people claim that densification is also expensive due to requiring infrastructure upgrades are misinformed?
