retired scientist, wannabe wanderer. fond of run-on sentences, no caps, & lots of em dashes. and bikes. always bikes. same shitposting as on the hellsite but much higher-toned.
a good bio of him here: www.theguardian.com/film/2026/fe...
22.02.2026 05:55 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0ππΌ I love how complicated the tactics get.
22.02.2026 00:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I usually watch the curlingβall of it. every Olympics. this year I just haven't been able to get my mind into itβat all. for probably obvious reasons. sickening, really. I've followed the headlines & newsβ& still care about it. & always root for Canada. I haven't paid any attention to the US teams.
21.02.2026 21:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0congrats!
21.02.2026 21:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0this video is being pushed by YT's algorithms right now. CNB NOW. Andrew Weisman. a video from 5 days ago. I was instantly riveted by it. it's amazing in itself, but it also explains ~99% of the extra-special levels of insanity this week. The toddler is going to war b/c Mark Carney disrespected him.
21.02.2026 20:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was offline for an hour. Are the tariffs on everybody at 600% yet?
21.02.2026 19:31 β π 214 π 18 π¬ 19 π 1I think you're exactly right. he will give instructions for the timing to be exactly that. the kind of bizarre shit that his demented brain thinks will be really cool.
21.02.2026 19:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It won't surprise me one bit if Trump, who loves drama and theatrics, announces during his state of the union speech on Tuesday that the US has begun to strike Iran.
21.02.2026 19:09 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0and also what that says about his core of support.
21.02.2026 19:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0an incredible amount of stuff like this can go on in the background while we all go haring off after disgraced ex-princes & the latest small fish that the DOJ casually permits to be unmasked in the Epstein Files.
21.02.2026 17:37 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0gosh he was really something back in the day.
21.02.2026 17:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0whew.
21.02.2026 16:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One reason Iβve shrugged off all the GaViN nEwSoMe Is tHe FrOnTrUnNeR takes is that Pritzker just so obviously outclasses him.
Iβm not saying itβll definitely be Pritzker, but I think Iβll say that thereβs no chance GAVIN manages to outmaneuver him.
don't ask me I don't give a damn my next stop is Vietnam. Country Joe & the Fish? so long ago and it's still fresh as the paint on Trump's hands.
21.02.2026 04:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0yes this stuff. i used to read all those old books. they were always painting horses like this.
21.02.2026 02:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am at a loss to understand how--once the Supreme Fricking Court has already told him to fuck off--how does he plan to "fight it in the courts"?
21.02.2026 02:14 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0exchanges like these are why I stay here.
21.02.2026 01:26 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I see! so it was a really big deal to find that out back then. interesting!!
21.02.2026 01:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0so it wasn't stills from a film?
21.02.2026 01:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0yes I think I remember that people long ago painted horses running & were getting it completely wrong. & then some guy got stills of a film. I didn't know who it was or how it all came about. but I remember people were gobsmacked about it.
21.02.2026 01:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0like galloping is basically a series of leaps. with each bound they are really "taking off". I think horses may be the same.(?) I will probably get interested in that next. I'm glad to understand this. We should probably all know a lot more about how critters work. Angus runs really well regardless.
21.02.2026 00:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0yes i looked at it several times. he's a free spirit.
21.02.2026 00:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0according to that last series of stills, in frame 12 the dog is setting up the next stride to be exactly the same pattern as the previous. & the rear print & the front print will always be same side. but the front 2 prints are always the rear feet. I never knew that! but o/c it makes perfect sense.
21.02.2026 00:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0here's a better view. sorry to be so nerdy but I got interested.
21.02.2026 00:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm not positive about the overstepping but it looks like they get so much momentum pushing off from the front legs that the rear legs touch down in front. like this: so the patten should look like β€΅οΈ & should maybe be the same? or alternating with each stride? IDK. at any rate, he's a free spirit.
21.02.2026 00:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0if this is really how they gallop, I suppose that means that they should be consistent about their feet pattern? it should always be the same pattern in order to be efficient? & Angus frequently changes his mind about this important decision? He looks like a racing greyhound when he's going all out.
21.02.2026 00:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0your remark about his cockeyed gait made me go stare at still photos of a galloping dog. & I came to the conclusion that a galloping dog so far oversteps his feet, that his back legs touch down ahead of where his front legs were? in such a way that the 1st print & the last print should be same side.
21.02.2026 00:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0it's definitely the cathartic moment we all deserve.
20.02.2026 20:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0do you think they would announce it right away? there was a MASH episode where a general's aide spent hours trying to find a battle front. & took his dead body to the front to try to make it look like the general had died in action. rather than naked in Hot Lips Hoolihan's bed.
