This new policy would be one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, and for veterans living in the 13 states that ban abortion, it would further close off what may be their only opportunity to access urgently needed abortion care.

This proposed rule change will apply to ALL veterans receiving care through the Veteran's Affairs health system, including those in the 14 states with constitutional protections for abortion rights.

While veterans were previously allowed to access abortion care in specific circumstances, this policy eliminates those exceptions apart from a narrow exception to save the life of a pregnant person.

These kinds of exceptions to save a person’s life often DO NOT work in reality.

‼️ Today, the Trump administration announced its plan to ban abortions for veterans—even in cases of rape or incest, and when the veteran's health is in danger.

To devalue veterans in this way and take away life-changing health care would be UNCONSCIONABLE.

That office oversees the Office of Population Affairs, which runs the Title X program for domestic reproductive health services, as well as the Office of the Surgeon General, Office on Women's Health, and Office of Minority Health, and others.

As Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Christine would serve as the primary advisor to the Secretary on U.S. public health and is responsible for the Department’s strategic and policy direction.

🚩Consistently degrades trans people, calling for “corrective treatment” and repeating the lie that gender-affirming care causes “irreversible damage”
🚩Opposed a policy that made it easier for active service members to access critical abortion care

🚩Advocated for religious exemptions giving health care providers broad permission to deny access to reproductive health care if they personally object to it
🚩Advocated against the ‘Equality Act,’ which would prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity
