My spring bulbs are sprouting here in balmy Utah, where it's been raining off and on for a month and daytime valley temps have been in the 50s. That's in the north, not down in the desert. We're fucked.

This. I quit Target before the boycott because the quality and the cleanliness tanked. The local Target became miserable to shop. The quality of the nonessentials went way down. By the time they went openly anti-DEI I was gone.

Not a movement but this is a great PBS documentary on jeans. I had no idea denim was a fabric used for slave garments until I watched this. It was called Negro Cloth or Lowell Cloth. www.pbs.org/wgbh/america...

I was fighting back joy tears during Sinners. Last movie to truly make me joy cry is 80s The Color Purple.

Slog of a tournament. Maybe England squeaked by but Spain shit the bed harder during the final shootout and earned their loss.

Was France coached to play at 75%? Like. It was infuriating to watch.

I hope the NMAAHC issues a statement. Sending back artifacts on longterm loan is a far cry from dismantling an entire exhibit or purging an entire archive. But the loan returns are having the intended effect: panic.

I fell for the Denzel trap and watched on demand. He sits for 80% of his screen-time and gives some of the worst speeches of his career. His performance is a highlight.

New moon brought a freshly killed songbird into my hallway, courtesy of the longest tuxedo cat on the block. I was glad to stop her before she deposited it under my bed but I'm curious what this omen portends. It's her 4th this year.

The Greeks absolutely had it right when they included a chorus in their plays. They knew audiences are dumbasses who need to be told β€œTHIS MAN IS BAD. HE IS HERE AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT *NOT* TO DO. WOE TO THE BUMPTIOUS FOOL WHO WOULD IDOLIZE HIM. YOU ARE NOT, NOR DO YOU WANT TO BE, ALEX DELARGE”

My sister and I are now in our 40s. She's having her existential spinout right now and I had mine in my mid 30s. Another win for First Borns everywhere.

The real tea is that August Wilson was more ambitious than Shakespeare and a better playwright, in my (correct) opinion. The gift of Shakespeare’s work is that he gave us many turns of phrase we now take for granted. But August Wilson gave us our souls back.

You don’t fight n*zis by relying on the people who organized the Beer Hall Putsch and that’s what the Lincoln Project, Bulwark, Cheney, Bush/Mccain/Romney people are.

I do wish liberal politicians would shut the fuck up about History. "History will judge us..." "History is watching..." There are few things more abstract to people who don't consider anything outside of their present or lived experiences than History.
