Culturele relativiteit: op deze planeet zijn er waarschijnlijk mensen en hele culturen die onze Vlaamse standaardsmaak van paprikachips even vreemd vinden als ik komkommerchips...

Hetzelfde bedrijf maakt beide trouwens blijkbaar.

question: "is it more cringe to yeet or yoink six seven"
Google AI answer:
Based on the context of the "6-7" (six-seveeeeen) meme, which is often used in a disruptive, nonsensical, and chaotic way, the "cringe" factor depends on how "insider" you are to the joke. [CNN +1]
However, based on the definitions of the slang terms, to "yoink" (steal/take) six-seven is generally more cringe than to "yeet" (throw/discard) it.
Here is why:

To Yoink 6-7 (More Cringe): "Yoink" means to snatch, steal, or grab something with stealth and speed. Using this to describe the 6-7 meme implies trying to capture, hold onto, or claim ownership of a fleeting, "brainrot" joke. It feels forced and desperate to hold onto a meme that is designed to be chaotic and temporary.
To Yeet 6-7 (Less Cringe): "Yeet" means to throw something with force, often with a sense of "good riddance". Given that 6-7 is considered a "plague" or a "virus" by teachers and many internet users, "yeeting" it aligns better with the chaotic, absurd nature of the meme. It acknowledges that the meme is absurd and should be discarded, which is arguably more "ironic" and thus less "cringe." [Merriam-Webster +6]
Conclusion: Trying to "yoink" (keep) the 6-7 meme makes you seem like you are trying too hard to be funny. "Yeeting" (tossing) it away fits the chaotic energy of the trend.

For the #WIPsnips

The princess isn't supposed to interact with the prince candidates of the selection, but she hates those rules.
Borlo is only an informant anyway (and not interested in winning) but still meeting with him is suspicious...

Oh, he has just made a friend here in his first moments in the camp of the prince candidates, so not everything is bad.
Also, the imperial crown princess Hanada herself isn't very herself about the whole 'first husband' thing either, so they all have at least that in common...

'I'll tell you later. You're of House Kior? Trained to be the new empress's first husband all your life?'
Borlo shrugged. 'Um... No, as the third son, they sent me here because they didn't see much of a future for me anyway, like buying a lottery ticket for the unlikely chance of success. My older brothers already had future plans and marriage arrangements and all that.
It seems highly unlikely to me that the princess will choose me, but I can't disgrace my family, so I have to do the best I can. And then, if I'm not chosen, I'll have to make sure I get back home without staying here as the princess's plaything... And above all, I'll have to make sure I survive the selection, right?'
'Ah, like that...' Dassan's thoughts drifted. He had trained for five months to understand the world of the nobles and be prepared for the Imperial Crown Prince Selection, but he found that he still didn't truly grasp what it was like to be born and live in that world. It was a very different world from his as a serf villager. And even to thagt he could no longer return now that his mother had sold him to pay off the family debts. He was completely cut off from his past now, and equally lacking a clear future.
Borlo seemed to sense his doubts. 'Don't give up, it's always possible that someone claimed will win the selection. Emperor Consort Cambiss was a claimed, for example.'
'Yes, that was over two hundred years ago, and he wasn't the only husband of Empress Zelena III; she had a huge harem. No ambition here to become part of a large toy collection like that. I'm actually trying to become and remain a free man... But I have no idea how.'

For #RandomReevesWords
I've taken a longer snippet to make things clearer, and now you have Dassan't story in a nutshell... He cannot return to his former life, and it's doubtful that he'll be chosen to be the first husband of the crown princess either. (Yanipol is rather matriarchal)

(Note that Zaiah is the successor of Lady Penda as the matriarch of parliament in Anka, both can preside the meetings in that role.
She also is a village priestess in training who only takes up political roles part-time when it's needed, and who has a life outside of the world of the Ankan highborn)

For the #WIPsnips
Bindar is worried about the imperial ball when Zaiah gets too excited, but Vester is a scientist, not a babysitter for loose noblewomen...
(the funny part is the role reversal here, usually Zaiah and not Bindar is the conscience of the trio, but for once she's 'feeling wild'...)

For the #Sundaysnips, something sweet from the very end of Dassan's story.
Well, it might not be him here who's chosen by the crown princess Hanada (and reluctantly approved by her younger siblings) here, but Dassan will definitely have a role in the trade that includes the 'magical' ice machine.

Trade negotiations that aren't working because Anka and Alzalia have very different opinions about slavery and buying metals mined by slaves. (Yeah, there's some nod to both Tolkien and Plato's 'Atlantis' in the names of the rare precious metals here)

From the corner of his eye...
The boys are there for the selection of the first husband of the princess, and should watch out with their words. Princess Hanada's grandmother would have beheaded for less than what they're saying now.
Borlo doesn't want to win I think...

Some personal backstory in this conversation between Bindar and Zaiah about his (arranged) ex-fiancΓ©e and her role in that story, and then Vester subtly changes the subject.

Dassan didn't become a slave and ended up in the crown prince selections though, and might befriend the person who will probably manage to get slavery abolished, partly because of hearing his story, but that's after the book...

It's a sort of tradition in the poorest parts of Yanipol in families of serfs, to have the eldest boy be the 'tax boy', and to not get too attached to him for that reason. Although it's not that common and extreme poverty is less common nowadays.
Most people don't know it's still a thing.

Quite sad, but Dassan as the eldest boy in a near-slavery family was kept at emotional distance by his parents and sibling, because they knew at a certain point they'd have to turn him in as a slave to pay their taxes.
The priestess of the sun goddess temple was much more loving than his family..

This is how Dassan got his nickname of 'the snake-killer'.
Phantom adders are not native in this part of Yanipol, let alone in Asper's bedroom, and they're quite valuable for certain purposes (even when death)...
Asper could have been a bit more grateful here. Noble boys..
