Portions of the park are still under construction so full path/route map might be a little confusing at the moment. Totally hear you about making an interim route/trail map available; great suggestion.

The easiest/primary trailheads are at south side of Commissioners Street just east of the bridge to get to the south side of the park and at Cherry and Comissioners Street to access the north side of the park. Lots of trails through the park once you get in.

'We're fixing it now'. Chow taking action to keep pools open
By Ilyas Hussein Staff Reporter
Amid the scorching heat, Mayor Olivia Chow says Toronto is taking immediate action to keep pools open.
To address staffing and safety concerns, Chow said the city is deploying additional lifeguards to city pools to manage schedules, adding more shade structures and are working to have medical professionals checked in or stationed on site.
"Pools need to be open during a heat wave.
That's obvious to us all," Chow said in a post on X Monday. "We're making sure we have to resources to keep them safe and healthy for City workers and the public alike. We're fixing it now."

The fact that there have been rolling closures at city swimming pools *because* of the heat is exactly why we need to take heat and climate change seriously.

Even the systems we have to keep us cool are, themselves, vulnerable to extreme climate impacts.

Thermometer reading of concrete exposed to direct sunlight on a hot day, reading over 40Β°C

One of the reasons we need to remove more concrete and plant more trees is because all this exposed concrete absorbs an incredible amount of heat, even compared to concrete that’s shaded.

This is wild for many reasons, but particularly considering how demonstrably and irrefutably effective congestion pricing has been in NYC (not to mention in London, Singapore, etc.).

Climate change is politically divisive. Public parks? Not so much. Parks are popular community amenities. When built right, they can also mitigate flooding, heat, and other impacts of climate change.

From wasteland to wetland: re-naturalizing Toronto’s Don River into Lake Ontario The $1.3-billion flood prevention project in Toronto’s Port Lands is one of the most ambitious urban nature restoration projects in Canada’s history

New: my story on the just-completed 1.3-kilometre Don River extension, a billion-dollar project that restores the river's long-lost natural connection with Lake Ontario in Toronto. It's an amazing thing. canadiangeographic.ca/articles/don...

Can’t be said enough: the right in Canada bleated on for years about patriotism & people not being proud of Canada, of wokeness, reconciliation, statue removal, etc as the problem. Then they are first to lay down in front of a foreign strongman who makes them half chub horny. It was all bullshit.

A four panel screencap from ANDOR

PANEL 1: Karis saying, "So much going wrong, so much to say, and all of it happening so quickly."

PANEL 2: Cassian looking on as Karis continues, "The pace of repression outstrips our ability to understand it."

PANEL 3: Karis, continuing, "And that is the real trick of the imperial thought machine."

PANEL 4: Karis, finishing, "It's easier to hide behind 40 atrocities than a single incident."

i know it's cringe to post star wars as ~revolution~ or whatever, & that's not what this is, but I do think about this sequence from Andor a lot bc I know how paralyzing it is to feel overwhelmed. So, I'll continue working in the lanes where I feel the most needed/helpful.

The curdled libertarianism here is a consequence of decades of permitting and facilitating billionaires and the sundry powerful to get away with evading taxes, undermining democracy, and flouting labour and environmental laws. If there are no consequences for thee, no consequences for me.

Ontario was advised to ease off gas. Doug Ford is doing the opposite | The Narwhal The Doug Ford government commissioned a report for up to $1.5 million to identify pathways to net-zero emissions, but continues to procure natural gas despite it

The Doug Ford government paid experts $1.5M to tell them how to reach net-zero emissions. Experts came up with 18 scenarios; each one urged the government to phase out natural gas. The Ford government isn't doing that and hasn't released the report.
