I think it’s less of a personality trait and more a circumstance/self-care thing. No one wants to be that way. When people are always late or unprepared I think a lot of it is not taking care of yourself or going through something bad instead of actively disrespecting others.

I think the racing could be better with different rules, but they are what they are and Max exploits them to his advantage which is what he should do. I don’t understand how people get all uppity in a sport that is built around the “if you’re not cheating you’re not trying” ethos.

It’s a sport that’s entire identity is about pushing the limits, and Max does that and is hated for it because it’s not “sporting”. He is doing exactly what he should until the rules say otherwise.
