Truthfully, though, libraries *want* people who "don't believe in us" to get a library card and use our services. We want ppl to realize how much we do for our community and how important free access to information is to a democracy. That's the only way people might change their minds.

Library worker here. I have literally had someone come in to the library to try to duplicate their library card for their adult son to use because he "doesn't believe in libraries" but still wants to use our services like free printing.

Funny how people "hate socialism" but wanna reap the benefits

(This might be too niche of a reference for people who weren't obsessed with the Eragon books as children, so, for context, Nar Garzhvog is the leader of the Urgal army, who are basically orcs and get a redemption arc later in the series. Nasuada is a human leader who KICKS ASS.)

Randomly remembering that time in my teens that I wrote a Nasuada/Nar Garzhvog fanfic based on the ABBA song Waterloo (much to the bewilderment of all the other teenagers on my Eragon fansite) which I guess proves I've been into monster romance WAY longer than it has been "cool"

I love that feeling when you're reading through a piece of work you were scared to look back at because you were worried it was a pile of steaming garbage, and you discover it's actually kind of fine and maybe even good 🥰 (anyway editing is going well today)

If you’re looking for a free way to support an author, did you know you can ask your library to stock a book you want to read that they don’t have yet? And usually it’s a very basic online form? Google your library name plus the words “request a title” or “suggest a title” to find yours.
