I did go directly to the Hansard to read some of the speeches at the second reading (the first reading is perfunctory).

Miville-Dechêne's introduction comes off as relatively reasonable, but she ignores how this bill will be weaponized against LGBTQ2SAI+ people.

I think change.org is more of a "data harvesting" site, rather than a legitimate political action site. But the warning is important.

Senator Julie Miville-Dechêne introduced this as a senate bill, rather than a commons bill, and introduced a very similar bill in the last parliament with S-210.

Obviously, it'd be weird to not bring in McCoy, but it'd be interesting to briefly see Dr. Piper. Same thing with Lee Kelso.

I can also see an argument that the producers might not want to officially cast characters like McCoy and Sulu until they get a green light on a follow-on series.

I can see an argument that he's not as well-known as other characters from TOS (although you could say the same thing about Roger Korby).

Regardless of any trade deal that Canada makes with USA - even if Canada “wins” - I will never go back to buying USA products when there are Canadian (or most any other nation for that matter) alternatives. No USA travel either.

Even if it’s not officially cancelled, every country needs to boycott the damn thing - not just because of the safety issue but also because certain ethnically “problematic” countries won’t be made welcome or be banned from entering the U.S…and those countries should be supported.

This was so surprising to me, that I was immediately suspicious. But it looks like other news outlets have the story too (but no reference on CBC yet).
