Still reading Cautious Travelers Guide. Also just started This Brutal Moon. It's time.

Finished The First Thousand Trees. Not my favorite of the 3 but still good. I like the hopeful ending. I have had a hard time getting into a lot of apocalyptic fic these days, so this novelette trilogy absolutely worked for me.

I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.

I can tell if someone has never told their child no or never taught them reasonable boundaries within 5 minutes.

That's generous. It is usually much less.

Most of the moral messaging in children's television programming when I was a kid was utterly uncontroversial at the time, and would be attacked as woke indoctrination today.

My parents first did the "you aren't old enough to read this" thing with preteen me, but I read them anyways. I always found a way. So it shifted to if they thought a book was more mature, one of them read it too and we talked about it. Some of my favorite memories with my parents.

Currently reading Curious Travelers Guide to the Wastelands and enjoying it so far. Gotta love conspiracies, trains, and mysterious horrors.

I also read a short in Uncanny called The Doorkeepers. It was good. A bit more bitter than sweet but it was good.

Finished Book and Dagger. It was a good read. It touches on lots of different people, doesn't shirk from the negative. It remained overall hopeful and I liked it.

Then you can more easily justify getting different flavors too. Everyone wins!

Selling the half pies is the best. I have definitely eaten more pie because I can just get a half pie.
