20.03.2025 19:29 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Hi! Iโm Sandra and I am a PhD student. My research focuses on developing and testing new genomic markers for non-invasive monitoring of otters, as well as evaluating the genetic diversity of otter populations in Portugal. I'm working in collaboration with the Environmental Genomics lab (University of Coimbra) and the Molecular Ecology and Otter Project groups (Cardiff University). I'm thrilled to work with the amazing Otter Project team and contribute to the conservation of this charismatic mustelid!
Introducing Sandra, a Portuguese PhD student from the @cfe_engel research group at the University of Coimbra. Part of her research will be developed in collaboration with the Otter Project, at Cardiff!

Do you use Darwin Tree of Life (DToL) genomes for your work or grant applications? If so, can you please fill out this form? docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... We are gathering info on how DToL genomes are used. It will help us raise money to continue producing publicly available high-quality genomes.

For more than 140 years, we have supported science and scientists. The ornithological community has grown and changed in that time, and we remain committed to providing important resources that support ornithologists in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them. We also remain committed to supporting the ornithological community and our members, who have varying needs, backgrounds, and identities.
Screenshot of email: And finally, we are committed to fostering a strong community for all ornithologistsโa community that provides support, friendship, collegiality, respect, and a sense of belonging for members across career stage, discipline, geography, background, and identity. We are proud to lead such a vibrant group of people committed to studying birds and addressing conservation issues. You are welcome here, and we value you.
This is what leadership from a scientific society looks like. Bravo @amornith.bsky.social
