Reprezentacije in konfiguracije multikulturalizma v delu Vrnitev v rodni kraj Louisa Adamiฤa | Dve domovini

And yet, the book is a remarkable attempt to bridge two worlds: the polyethnic US and the multinational Yugoslavia. In my new article, I explore how Adamiฤโ€™s American experience shaped his views of Yugoslaviaโ€”and how he presented the country to an American audience.

Adamiฤ praised the countryโ€™s diversity, but he didnโ€™t hold back his criticism of King Alexander. The timing couldnโ€™t have been worse. Just months after the book came out, the king was assassinated. The authorities banned the book. To this day, it has never been translated into Serbo-Croatian.

In 1934, Louis Adamiฤ came back to Yugoslavia after decades in the US. He had left before WWI, built a career as a writer in America, and returned with new eyes. What he wrote became The Nativeโ€™s Return, a book full of sharp observations about culture, politics, and everyday life in Yugoslavia.

Pride Crumbs: Memory in a Time of Uncertainty Pride Month is coming to an end, and it feels like it never even happened this year. No flags, no confetti, not even the usual corporate enthusiasm in rainbow colors. The goddess of celebrating divโ€ฆ

just posted some reflections on pride month, queer archives (or lack thereof) in the post-yugoslav space, and the bits of stories that survive in unexpected places.

itโ€™s about how we remember, what we forget, and why some stories still refuse to die.

While we canโ€™t currently offer full funding outside the CEEPUS region, there are spots for self-funded participants, and weโ€™re hoping to expand access in the future.

Thanks for bringing this up! The summer school is part of the CEEPUS network, which connects universities in Central and South-Eastern Europe so the funding is available for students studying in those countries.

That said, we absolutely welcome applications from the Global South and beyond.
