Red text in all-caps: βQueer, Devout, and In Between: Navigating Sexuality and Spirituality as a Young Person." Below is text in a smaller font: βThe tension of being both queer and devout is one many young people live with every day and it's one Taiwo Adepetun knows well." Behind these, an aqua background is watermarked with Scarleteen's "S" logo and tagline "Queer Sex Ed for all since 1998". Hands clasped together holding prayer beads on the bottom right corner.
"Being queer and devout often means living with paradox, and paradox demands maturity. It means living in mystery, and mystery, at its heart, is spiritual." Taiwo Adepetun's piece is a beautiful and profound exploration of how faith and queerness are intertwined.

Beautifully written, thank you.
I loved this line:

I want to be crystal clear:
My religion requires access to gender-affirming care and, indeed, *obliges me* to seek and defend that access for others.
Any laws that obstruct this are infringing on my religious freedom. As a Christian. β

Today, weβre announcing the preview release of ty, an extremely fast type checker and language server for Python, written in Rust.
In early testing, it's 10x, 50x, even 100x faster than existing type checkers. (We've seen >600x speed-ups over Mypy in some real-world projects.)

Fair enough. For me Rust is my current favorite language, and the Leptos signal system is close enough to Svelte reactivity to make it a doable transition for me.

This is precisely why I'm finding Leptos so compelling at the moment: it gives me a unified type system on both front and back end.

In the theological world, a 'secular' is roughly a priest who isn't a monk.
So maybe 'secular elites' are a handpicked group of incredibly well trained vicars?

What exactly is meant by that phrase, do you think? I've seen it used but never defined.
As a programmer I'm wondering how I'd implement the function:
`is_secular_elite :: Person -> Bool`

Same here. I'd be interested in more tools to clearly delineate functional and imperative code: currently I use function coloring heavily for this. But in the same way Rust can tell me 'this function won't mutate its arguments,' I'd like a way of guaranteeing 'this function has no side effects.'

I've noticed my software development philosophy is migrating from asking 'how can I get my code to do the desired task' to 'how can I minimize the likelihood of my code doing the wrong thing.'
The latter is much broader and much harder than the former, of course.

It does amaze me just how unusable the platform has gotten recently. Clearly some manager there is running an experiment to see just how bad the signal/noise ratio can get before they lose their entire userbase. Not sure what the plan after that is.
