This is such a great point! I'll be honest, I came to Star Wars via the video games first, and always felt the films were inferior to a lot of the Expanded Universe material, so this never occurred to me.

Hahaha similarly I didn't see any of the Star Wars movies until my mid 20s either. I was curious after loving some of the games a great deal, what the original material was like.

But I generally have strong feelings about all fiction I experience. If I don't? Well that's the worst condemnation.

100%! I genuinely do really appreciate Empire Strikes Back! Though Return of the Jedi was a major letdown for me, seemed deeply unserious storytelling that retroactively diminished it.

And while I can appreciate some of the artistic choices in the prequel trilogy, overall they're hard to enjoy.

Lucasarts closing down their own game studios to just rent out the IP was a travesty TBQH. They made some great stuff in their time. But some licensees did too.

Some of the novels are really great too, though!

Yeah, sadly the Chretien liberals made some minor tweaks but signed NAFTA into law, damning us to be a reliant subsidiary of the US. Then the idea of touching NAFTA at all became political sacrosanct until trump just upturned the table unilaterally.

Always galled me that the oil we export doesn't count as our emissions, but the goods we import from China and other nations count as their emissions too.

Even with that: Per capita we're among the biggest polluters, yet we're pointing fingers at nations with far lower rates.
